Concert
Was… rather a success! Everything went better than expected (insert_picture_here haha)… Some things were a bit shaky but no critical errors (which is a huge improvement)… The orchestra that seemed to go downhill somehow just got better in quality! Maybe it’s the church and support… but it was really good seeing so many parents and relatives come to the concert today; I hope it doesn’t go downhill from here like it did in the previous half decade. It was also good seeing some (very few) parents help out instead of “Are you done? Let’s go home” and blaze off asap.
One sad thing that was brought up to me is that people who attend church and/or had children attend the orchestra for years are the ones to just quickly leave after the concert. It’s usually the new parents or the ones who don’t go to church are the ones who always stay until the end and clean out (when excluding us teachers). But then again, I thought that if I was in their shoes, I would also be someone that leaves quite early (owned). However, being an official member for 2 years and serving as an assistance/teacher for nearly 4 years, it was always tough to see parents just not show any signs of support to the orchestra their child is serving in (or some parents just drop off their kids and later come to pick them up after the concert). Also, being a Christian community orchestra, this is even more heartbreaking…
Nonetheless, everything really did go better than expected and the concert wasn’t a drag to begin with. Good job students we are on our way back to the glory days.
PS. orchestra members can’t read this though :d haha (maybe except one person)
